I-Team Discovers that Illegal Marijuana Cultivation Facilities May Be Operating Next to You!
Recreational marijuana usage was allowed in California in 2018 but the NBC4 I-Team uncovered that hasn’t stopped illicit grow operations from cropping up around Southern California, sometimes in homes, sometimes even near schools.
The NBC4 I-Team gained unique access to go along with the California Department of Cannabis Control as they busted, what they say, were many illicit cannabis cultivations and activities in Baldwin Park.
It’s been two weeks since investigators from various state and local agencies fanned out across the city, visiting a total of four sites.
According to a DCC spokesman, the operation uncovered 11,290 cannabis plants worth $9,834,000 and 144.3 pounds of cannabis flower worth $238,095.
The department also said four persons were arrested on misdemeanor charges.
The DCC says NBC4 their office served 300 search warrants for illegal cannabis cultivations across the state last year alone.
