A Bill Would Allow Floridians To Cultivate Their Own Medical Marijuana!
A constitutional amendment is being advocated for by an organization that would permit “caregivers and adult qualifying patients 21 years of age or older to cultivate marijuana for medical purposes.”
It has been reported that a political committee has begun working on a constitutional amendment that would make it legal for medicinal marijuana patients and their caregivers to cultivate cannabis at home.
New material on the website of the state Division of Elections indicates that the Smart & Free Florida committee is working to place the issue on the 2024 ballot. 891,589 valid petition signatures would have to be submitted.
According to the proposal’s summary, “caregivers and adult qualified patients 21 years of age or older would be permitted to cultivate marijuana for medical use, with such cultivation limited to the cultivator’s house.”
The plan is part of an effort by a group called Smart & Safe Florida to have a constitutional amendment legalizing recreational marijuana usage on the ballot in 2024. By Friday afternoon, that group had turned in 291 999 legitimate signatures. In 2016, Floridians voted in favor of an amendment legalizing the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes.
