Las Vegas and The Las Vegas Strip Are on The Cusp of A Major Cannabis Transformation!

The problem with cannabis in Las Vegas is complicated. The sale of recreational marijuana is legal in the city, but smoking is restricted to private homes. So, tourists who smoke up on the Las Vegas Strip, Fremont Street, or anywhere else in the city are technically breaching the law.

Las Vegas police have more important things to do than crack down on pot use, but the city’s lack of designated areas where the drug can be smoked illegally has led to additional issues. To begin with, the air on the Las Vegas Strip and other outdoor areas of the city now reeks of marijuana.

Second, grownups who travel to Sin City to indulge in activities like gambling, overindulgent eating, and a few drinks need not feel guilty about doing so in front of others. Those visitors to Las Vegas who have lawfully acquired marijuana are forced to either openly break the law or choose secluded areas in parking lots in which to light up.

Neither is helpful to the city, and Nevada is already working to fix the issue. The state has established guidelines for consumption lounges, and two intriguing contenders are nearing completion of their respective projects to provide visitors to Las Vegas with a safe and comfortable venue to legally smoke cannabis.

Luxury Hotel to Allow Cannabis Use in Las Vegas

In 2022, Elevation Hotels and Resorts bought the Artisan Hotel, a small boutique property located at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Interstate 15. The hotel is within a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel, now known as the Lexi, will welcome cannabis tourists.

The hotel, which will be the first of its sort in Las Vegas, is rumored to open in April, though no official date has been set. There will be an entire level of the 64-room hotel without carpets, heavy curtains, or any other items known to absorb smoke.

We want to take things to the next level,” Elevation CEO Alex Rizk told Travel Weekly. “Although cannabis is legal in some states, we do not focus solely on it. The goal is to make everyone feel comfortable, regardless of their stance on cannabis use, so that the stigma around it can be eliminated.”

In addition to a top-optional European-style pool and shuttle service to nearby dispensaries, the Lexi will feature a steakhouse helmed by former Hell’s Kitchen competitor Jordan Savell.

Soon, There Will Be a Consumption Lounge on Planet 13.

A number of dispensaries will be able to open consumption lounges according to the new regulation, but none of them will be found in existing casinos. The fact that cannabis is still illegal at the federal level is the main reason why major Strip hotels like Caesars Entertainment (CZR) – Get Free Report and MGM Resorts International (MGM) – Get Free Report have not welcomed them.

The casinos will not be participating, despite the fact that it would have been entertaining to watch Caesars open a cannabis consumption lounge à la Guy Fieri. As a result, the most anticipated cannabis consumption lounge is being built by Planet 13 (PLNHF), Las Vegas’ largest dispensary (and a destination in itself).

The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board has given the green light for the construction of a lounge at the company’s “Superstore,” located about a mile from the Strip.

According to the company’s press release, “The Planet 13 Entertainment Complex will be the first venue of its kind where consumers can witness things being manufactured, purchased, and enjoy all under one roof.”

There is already a cafe and restaurant at Planet 13’s Superstore. In order to launch its cannabis consumption lounge in Las Vegas, the firm must actually relinquish its liquor license at that site.

In a statement, co-CEO Larry Scheffler expressed his excitement at the company’s decision to move through with plans to open a “world-class” cannabis consumption lounge near the Las Vegas Strip. “Planet 13’s focus has always been on providing novel and exclusive immersive experiences for its patrons. We’re excited to once again challenge convention and broaden people’s understanding of cannabis’s potential.”
