Authorities say that a man in central California is being charged with a felony because his 2-year-old son overdosed on fentanyl. Marvin Thomas, who is 34 years old, was taken into custody on Sunday after police in Merced went to Mercy Medical Center.
“The child’s parents took him to the emergency room after he showed signs of fentanyl poisoning that were life-threatening,” police said in a news release. The child was treated right away, and his condition got better as the day went on. Police say the parents helped them find out what happened.

“Detectives found that (Thomas) brought fentanyl-laced Marijuana products into the home,” police said. “The child was exposed.” “Officers served a search warrant at a home near the 2300 block of Gabriel Drive and took the substance from the home.” Thomas was arrested and put in the Merced County Jail for felony child endangerment.
Police said that child protection services are involved in the case. Child Protective Services is also part of the investigation, which the police said both parents were helping with.
